A little bit of intro for Kallang Open. Its open for Tertiary ,B and C Division. In tertiary Division, possible teams taking part will be powerhouses such as ACJC, ACSI, RJC, NUS, NTU, SMU etc. Also it will be an eye opening experience watching secondary school teams pit against one another. SO EVERYONE! You are encouraged to come down to watch the game even if you are not playing to absorb the atmosphere and trace back your nostalgic training days.

For those who had taken part in Usport Slowpitch Carnival 2011 or 2010, you should be quite familiar with this. A minimum of 3 ladies must be in the field, so girls you have plenty of chances to be in the game. Like in any other slowpitch game, you cannot steal bases, bunt and sliding. I think there are other restrictions but i cant remember. When the date draws nearer than i will brief everyone.

My apologies for not updating earlier... For the benefit of those who don't know. Yesterday, 6 February 2012 was our last training for the schooling term as examinations are approaching. So for all those having examinations, good luck! Please study hard, okay!

Training will resume when school holidays start so hope to see all of you then! :D

SP Game SP Game SP Game!!!

This is the game all of guys have been waiting for. The great SP-NP rivalry has been rekindle. Even though this is a friendly game, i want all of you to put in your 100% effort. For starters, i want you to take this chance to learn as much as possible and gain experience from this game. For experienced players, this is the time where i want you to lead the team and set a good example for the beginners to learn.

Learn from your previous game, do not make the same mistakes as before. Motivate one another and make noise in the field. This is the best way to keep the spirit up throughout the whole game. Go for the easy plays. Dont let one mistake hold you down. The moment you make a mistake, quickly recover from it. Shake it off and think how to make the next out.

Final note: Please make sure that you have at least 7 hours of undisturbed rest and hydrate yourself sufficiently the night before. Take good care of yourself because it seems like its going to be another rainy season.

First Valuable Lesson

During last wednesday's friendly, my coach told me something before the game that struck my mind. It really applies to our club. "Make do with what you have now" he said. For those who are late, you would most probably missed this part. But with just that simple sentence, it resonates in my thought.

For those who feels that our equipment is inadequate, i do feel this way too. But that shouldnt be the reason why you are not attending trainings or not performing to standard. If you can make do with what we have, trainings can be just as fun. It is the people that makes the difference not the equipment. I will do my best to stock up the equipment.

Speaking of people, I understand that most of the time we do not have enough peeps for training. For those with the mentality that since there is so few members playing and therefore I'm not coming to train. I hope I can change your mindset. If you wish to continue contributing to the MIA list, I would suggest that a reasonable explanation is given else as i said before, the impression counts. On the other hand, with the "make do with what you have" attitude, i believe that trainings will be more special if you can think in this manner.

First of all let me announce the new committee for NP Softball club.

As this is a brand new committee, please be patient towards us and we hope to live up to our expectations.

I may have missed out on some points during AGM therefore I am editing it here. Its abit long winded so just bear with it.

This is for those who missed out on the AGM. I have a lot of goals and expectations for the club. I hope everyone would have the same vision as me. Right now there are many shortcomings in this club and I wished to correct it. If I were to shout at you during games, trainings and etc, I hope you can understand what I am doing. This is for your own good. I want to make your stay in softball club a memorable 2-3 years in NP.

As the President of softball club, I do not develop players, I develop people’s character. From my observation, this club lacks in discipline, poor attitude, no teamwork and poor communication.

Discipline

Members should have the basic courtesy to inform the committee if they are unable to make it for training. If you were to quit softball, please approach me directly and no one else. If you do not have a valid reason to quit, I will not approve your request. You can quit on yourself, I will not quit on you.

I would like to point out a good example. On 19/12/11, only Jeremy, Dine and myself came to training. But it has been raining for the whole day. I would like to point out that Jeremy live in the east and yet he came all the way down to school hoping that the weather will subside. Even though Jeremy knew it was raining, he made it a point to come down to school. If you do not know the learning point of this example, go figure it out yourself and learn from this.

Attitude

If you are not attending trainings because you feel that the trainings are slack, I suggest that you can come look for me and give me pointers to improve on. I don’t need all-star players who don’t contribute to the development of the team.

If no one informs the committee your whereabouts during the holidays or school week, he/she will write a letter of explanation regarding why he/she didn’t inform anyone about their whereabouts. Poor attitude may result in consequences– pushups, suspensions or expulsion.

Teamwork

Members should have teamwork and all should volunteer to clean the store if they can because the equipment belongs to everyone. There will be a store cleanup every semester. The equipment does not belong to the Quartermaster; it belongs to every individual member.

Communication

I believe that the committee and club members should work together. If you have any suggestion, feel free to let it out because your contributions may help the club one way or another. With good communication, teammates will have a better understanding and respect with one another.

Miscellaneous

Training starts at 5pm without fail. Members should be ready and all changed 5pm sharp even if Leslie the quartermaster is not here. Unless you have lessons, group work, FYP or attachment, you do not have any reason to attend trainings late.

Training is on rain or shine. If it is raining, there will be a CCA meeting in the clubhouse (I will try to get hold on one). No weak excuses such as too much homework or its raining now. You should be able to manage your time properly and do consider about other members as well because everyone else have their assignments to complete. You are not the only one with homework to do. I know the field can be very muddy during rainy period but we need to train on the poorest condition so that one day it could be used as an advantage for us. If my memory serves me well, softball is all about getting dirty. Nobody is going home clean.

No doubt we are a recreational club. I hope there is some form of professionalism and dignity in maintaining the club. I would like to say that the future of the club is not in my hands, everyone plays a part in molding the club and I hope that the club will go on to achieve the best and be successful.

Lastly members with other CCAs other than Softball, please kindly inform me.

Admin issues, for seniors remember to prepare the money for club fund. Boys $100 for your slacks and miscellaneous stuff, girls $25 for socks/headbands and other miscellaneous stuff as well.

As usual, I have to stress that attendance is compulsory for every training. Seniors, you should know the training timings well enough. We will not be lenient anymore, please respect the club rules.

Hey guys,

The date for the Sports Camp showcase has been confirmed, it will be on 20th March(Saturday). The timing is still uncertain but please keep the whole day free as we will need to set up and facilitate this programme for about 8 groups of freshies.

All boys who do not have your own slacks, please put aside $100 as Aloy is going to purchase them in bulk for all of you. The money left over from the $100 will be transferred to the club fund and then used for any other expenses that incur during your matches.

Girls, please set aside $25 for the club fund as well as we need to purchase a few things for you. Likewise, and money left over will be placed in the club fund.

Just to remind you about training dates, they will be on March: 12th (Fri), 15th (Mon), 17th(Wed), 24th (Wed), 29th (Mon), and April: 3rd (Sat), 5th (Mon), 10th (Sat), 17th (Sat). Please be reminded to inform me(via text/call) if you are unable to make it for training, preferably at least one day in advance.

That's all, do take note of the dates. The committee's contact numbers are at the sidebar so feel free to call us if you have any doubts on anything.

I hope you guys have survived the exam week and are full of vigor for holiday training now :D Anyway, you don't have to worry about being overworked because we are not going to be training a lot.. So here are the dates!

Training will start promptly at 9am and end around 3pm, so please be punctual. If you cannot make it for training, please inform any of the committee members before the stipulated date.

Another important thing. We will be having a friendly match with SP on 17th March, only the boys team. Please be at the store by 8am sharp so that we can make our way there together. For girls, even though we're not playing, please go down to support the boys okay!

LAST important thing, as you all know, NP's Sport's Camp will be on from 20th-23rd March(sat-tues). On either Sat or Sun, we will have to showcase softball to the freshies attending the camp, so please take note because we'll have to facilitate this. The plan is with Ridhwan so don't worry ^^

Okay, so guys, please take down these dates and make sure you don't have anything on alright. Especially 17th, 20th, and 21th March, they are very important. REMEMBER to inform any committee member about your absence if you are unable to attend any of the three(ie training, match, showcase) with a valid reason.

Anyway, I shall make it clearrrrrr once and for all. If you are unable to come for any training, please inform me prior to the start time(5.30pm). BUT THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU TELL ME AT 5.29PM OKAY, it is best if you let me know the day before.

If your reason is valid I will take note and your attendance will be fine, but that is only if your reason is valid and uh.. I get to decide if it's valid or not :D If you do not inform me before the training time, I will mark you as absent. I really don't care if you tell me after the training, if I don't hear anything from you before the training has commenced, you will be ABSENT.

We are trying to figure out when the 3rd training of each week will be on but most likely it'd have to be on a saturday yet again the field has been booked on the other days so it is basically not possible to have trainings on any other additional day other than the weekends. When will saturday training start?.... well... we'll discuss about that on monday training so please show up everybody.
Basically saturday training, is a brush up training for each and everyone of you !
The training is to train your weaker points ..
Please ! If you think you are weak in some parts please come down for Sat training!!!!

Another thing to emphasize !

Please be in proper attire during training !!!
(boots or shoe , shirt , shorts and slacks (if you want to ) )
boots is better ..

Guys training , if you come training please be cooperative!
Eg : Smsing while training . joking around while batting .... Etc Etc !

Please be reminded that our bonding camp is this coming saturday-monday, 3rd Oct-5th Oct. Report at Makan Place at 10.30am sharp. Note that you will have to bring money to pay for lunch on the first day, the other meals will be provided for you but do bring money just in case.

Things to bring for camp are simple, just bring enough clothes for 3 days, I'm sure you know how much is enough. Remember to bring your boots or whatever you need for training/match.

Time for some serious business.

Double Play

1st! Know what is the purpose of a double play. Double play is simply getting 2 runner OUT! in a single play. So if it's triple play is getting 3 runner OUT! in a single play.

2nd! This play is in a very rapid pace. So must be fast !fast!.

(Do watch the video in sequence)(I'm aware that this is a Baseball video, but at least its something)
This is for those playing the Second Baseman (2B) position.

Oh 5-4-3 double play means, 3B to 2B to 1B. So 5' represent 3B, 4' represent 2B and 3' represent 1B.

This is for those playing the Short Stop (SS) position.

So this play is called, 4-6-3 double play. 2B to SS to 1B.

Now you know how to initiate and execute a double play. Lets learn how to stop a double play if You are the runner. Focus on the runner from first base.

This last video is just an extra. I believe in softball we also have such rules where a runner interfere with the fielders attempt to make a play. MUST LISTEN.

Second thing - We are joining this year Runner's Relays 2009! I need 3 teams mainly consisting of 5 men and 2 girls per team. What's the rule? First runner runs 1.5km, Second runner and onward runs 1.2km. Second and Sixth runner must be a female! So JIAYOU!

Third thing - Camp coming again! I need to know when your want the camp given the 2 dates. 31 Aug to 3 Sep (Which is right after exams) and 9 Sep to 12Sep. It's a 3 days camp in spite of the given dates.

I nid to clarify who is going for the camp and who is not. Collection of forms has been problematic and i need to order ur FOOOOOD! So i nid to collate numbers.....

Everybody PLEASE take note... This is so far what the camp attendance looks like. I'm quite sure i've made SOME mistakes, it is INEVITABLY my nature... OK! Training will be on MONDAY, 15 June, and Wednesday, 17 June, from 8 - 11 am. DO NOT BE LATE. Be at Block 50 field by 8 am.

P.S. Those who have YET to submit your idemnity forms back to me... OR WORST have yet to receive them. Pls come for training. For those who are NOT able to make it on for EITHER training, especially those who hav not passed me/received the forms... CALL ME AND INFORM ME PLEASE. I've asked our advisor, Ms Ong, about the NUS open. She told me that we can't participate in this year NUS open because we are going to clash with exams. Let's hope for the better as days past! Yea! PLEASE TAKE NOTE! There are two updates in this post;

First off...

I need to pass ALL of you idemnity forms which are to be filled up and returned to me... PLEASE collect the idemnity forms REGARDLESS if you will be coming for Rojak Camp or NOT! Tmr, Tuesday, I would be in school for most of the day... Frm 2pm onwards... Wherever you are free to meet up, please give me a call! We'll meet immediately! On Wednesday I am only free during my lunch break, 12 - 1... As for Thursday, my lunch break is oso frm 12 - 1, and i'm free after 4... I'll try to stay at school till as late as possible. Friday, 10 - 1, and after 2.30pm. Please guys/gals we are all adults here(cheyy lyk uncle2 seyy) dun wait for me to call you personally to get u to collect. Tks in advance.

As for when to submit! Latest by, next FRIDAY... Yes... still have to meet up! CALL ME!(sounds despo sia, HAHA)

SALUT everybody!

We have changed the dates for the upcoming camp... Sooo SORRY if we have caused any inconvenience. We have booked the 4 apartments at the loft for the camp. Due to overwhelming response... We have doubled it. The LOFT is really the best accomodation for a CAMP! U DUN WAN TO MISS IT! As for the dates, it will be on the week after the proposed dates. NEW DATES ARE --> 20, 21, 22 JUNE! (Sat/Sun/Mon) Please PLEASE PLZ get back to me on this. I really need to know if you can/cannot make it. Tks in advance...

Monday went well, least from my view. Koon has an idea on how to take charge of coaching the club. I am unsure of how the training will be from now on because all our previous training was so simple that it only help us in nothing much but throwing to each other. Sometime situational plays. Nontheless, it's better den the old ways.

Wow, i find it hard writing this. I dont know the plan of the club, so I can not write the plans here to share. I hope bryan or koon will continue the blog. Ok Hariz signing off already! TC. =)
